As a long term IHG Rewards Club member I have stayed in many hotels of the IHG group and Intercontinental being one of my favourite brands. So I was happy for the opportunity to stay in InterContinental Bucharest to feel the special ambience and luxury of the first five-star hotel in the city. Over years, InterContinental Bucharest has won the prestigious awards, the most recent of them being World Luxury Hotel Awards 2017.
Location: InterContinental hotel has got the perfect location in the heart of the city. Its central location puts you within walking distance from every important site in the city. National Museum of Romanian History and National Museum of Art of Romania are within 15 minutes. Universitate metro station is just 4 minutes away.
Being the tallest hotel in town with its 22 floors it offers the breathtaking view overlooking the city.
Reception: was efficient and quick.
Lobby area: Is welcoming and decorated with exquisite flower compositions extending to the ceiling. Lobby art exhibition adds a special feel to the place.
The Room: I stayed in a Superior room on the 11th Club floor. A guest room features a lush decor. My big surprise was that walls of the room were covered with a fabric, not wallpaper and padded with the soft material making room sound proof and also getting the soft feeling of the place.I appreciated L'Occitane toiletries with their shower gel being my favourite. As a coffee lover, I really loved the opportunity to have a coffee in my room from a capsule coffee machine provided.A bathrobe and slippers were there for my convenience. Free Wi-Fi is available. A complimentary mineral water kept me hydrated. The sleeping quality for me is very much related to the comfort of the pillow so InterContinental pillow menu is a valuable thing for me. I very much like soft pillows filled with natural down and feather. InterContinental Bucharest is the first five-star international hotel in Romania to adopt the "handy", mobile travel solution, an innovative free- to- use smartphone offered to hotel guests during their stay, inside or outside the hotel.
Club lounge: I had access to the club lounge where guests have an opportunity to enjoy food and drinks in relaxing atmosphere and enjoy the views of Bucharest from above.
Breakfast: Breakfast is served in a Corso Brasserie restaurant with a selection of fruit salads, marmalade, local specialities, and also an assortment of cheese, meat and fish.Fancy champagne with your breakfast? Here you are!In other time in the restaurant locals and guests can enjoy Romanian and international dishes. Also, brunch is offered there on Sundays.
Health Club: Health Club on the 22nd Floor features the highest indoor pool in the city and a full range of wellness options. A view of the city from the Jacuzzi is just incredible.
Special feature: The Ronda is the largest and most elegant ballroom of the InterContinental Bucharest. This lavish round ballroom can accommodate up to 600 delegates at a conference or 250 guests at a party. Its wall decoration made using a real gold is really stunning. It was created by two Romanian artists of the 70s.
Time of stay: One night in April 2018.
Price per night: Room prices starting from 140 Euros per night.
Conclusion: If you want to feel a real luxury, stay at InterContinental Bucharest!
